Been hungry?

May 10th, 2008 by admin

Most of us can’t even imagine what it’s like to be truly hungry. Some of us won’t even eat the crusts off our sandwich. But there are Haitian people who have become so desperate as to literally eat dirt just to survive. That needs to change, and by God’s grace, we want to be part of it.

Who are we?

Community Christian School consists of about seventy students from kindergarten to eighth grade. The school is located in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where the students learn about God in their everyday subjects. The students enjoy the small school atmosphere, the awesome teachers, and their great friends here at CCS.

What are we doing?

Fifteen junior high students, at Community Christian School, sat pondering the article in the weekly Christian reader, God’s World. The article vividly described the poverty in Haiti. We were shocked to find that many Haitians resolved to eat mud cookies for a meal. The article described such horrific conditions that the class agreed they must do something. With the help of our Bible teacher, the class built this web site in order to raise funds. The proceeds will be going through World Vision. World Vision is a Christian organization devoted to directly feed the people in poor countries. We chose this ministry because we know the money we raise will be put directly into feeding the Haitians.

Food crisis in Haiti reaches critical point.

How you can help.

Now that you have learned what we are all about and what we are doing, you are probably wondering how you can help. On this website you can give a direct donation or pay for an insane challenge to be performed. You may also pay for helpful service to be done by some of the students in the junior high class.

Paint Pastor Matt’s Car

March 6th, 2008 by admin

Now available in the Insanity Shop is the ability to paint Pastor Matt’s car.  This is a true classic:  an ‘89 Chevy Corsica with SOME ORIGINAL PARTS (including the paint).  Turn a thing of beauty into a thing of even greater beauty!  Of course, this option works better for locals than for people in, say, San Diego.  Those guys are probably too busy hanging out on the beach to be interested in serious art anyway.  Even so, we have a team of talented artists equipped with finger paints and who knows what else, who are in need of a patron.  Now’s your chance!

And if you know anyone who works for Red Bull, let them know we can cut them a deal on the whole thing.

Send us your suggestions!

March 5th, 2008 by admin

We’re looking for ideas for the Insanity Shop, where we do insane things for money to feed Haitian people.  We’ve talked about shaving our heads, dying our hair, and eating a mud cookie.  We’d love to get your ideas - leave them in the comments section!  And be sure to check out the Insanity Shop!
